The USA government has always understood that investment in the education is the investment in the future of the country. Education is the best way to raise respectful citizens who will develop the society.

The federal government of the country takes care of providing a necessary number of grants. The sources of the financial aid can be different: schools, educational programs, universities, small arts colleges, technical, vocational, trade schools and even community colleges. An unbelievably great sum of $67 is allotted to the institutions that have emerged each year. Those are given as loans, grants, campus-based aid and the like. After that educational institutions distribute these grants to the students, who in their point of view deserve them. The replenishment of these grants can be done once or several times a year, depending on the educational institution.

One of the grants that are a part of this charity process is the federal Pell Grant. The main advantage is that the money is not expected to be returned. The amount of the aid distributed among students depends on one’s financial need, but maximum amount cannot exceed the norm given by the Congress every year.

Free grants can also be campus based aid. The best-known institutions that deal with these grants are the Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Federal Perkins Loan programs. This financial support is given to the programs that are under control of the financial aid office.

Though there are also some requirements for getting a free grant: thus a student needs to be a citizen of the US or a legal non-citizen and social security number should be valid. Also a high school transcript or a General Education Development certificate is necessary. If a student doesn’t have it because of this or that reason, they can use a special test for ‘ability to benefit’ instead. To receive the grant the one needs to be registered a regular student and then apply for it.
